This article talks about what the military-industrial complex of Russia is, its functions, discusses its current status, how it is characterized. The subject of the article is the military-industrial complex of Russia. The purpose of writing this article is to show the condition of the Russian defense. The article was written using material from other papers, magazines and official word of deputies of the State Duma. The result of this work is to show the condition of the military-industrial complex of Russia and that influenced its current state. After the collapse of the Soviet Union military-industrial complex is in a big decline. After coming to government, President Vladimir Putin began an active program of modernization of the entire defense industry of the Russian Federation. Since the collapse of the USSR, no contracts and low utilization enterprises drove the entire defense industry crisis in which the industry is still. The research of defense enterprises in different regions of the Russian Federation shows that the key problems in enterprises of the military-industrial complex are general. In Russia there is a serious technological gap of the Russian defense industry from leading industrial Nations. Moral and physical aging of technologies, equipment and products to stop so far failed. The Development Programme to 2020 built on import substitution and infusion of large sums is intended to restore the power of military-industrial complex. The recently taken measures by the state have resulted in the increase of the share of military production in the total production of the industry. Particular emphasis should be placed on the development of technological base, ensuring the production of space means the world level, said the head of state. The growth of investment in the industry in 2011 was 116 percent compared to the level of the previous year. Funds are used to purchase new equipment, modernization of the test infrastructure, creation of new production facilities. Production growth in the defense industry exceeds the rate in other industries.
