The morphology of the surface coatings obtained by microarc oxidation in silicste-alkalin electrolyte under different processing conditions has been studied. It is revealed that the surface morphology depends on the coating thickness and ratio of the cathode and anodic current components. The results of experimental studies on the definition and calcula-tion of the total porosity with frame surface micrographs of MAO coating are given. It is determined that the processing time increases the number of pores in the coating becomes smaller and their longer dimensions.
MAO coating, surface morphology, porosity.
